Public Notice - Overland Flooding
Due to significant overland flooding throughout the community, residents are asked to use extreme caution when travelling. Many roadways may be impacted by standing water, soft shoulders, and washouts, and conditions can change rapidly.
We are aware that multiple areas of the community are currently experiencing flooding. Municipal staff are actively monitoring conditions and taking measures where possible to mitigate impacts and protect municipal infrastructure.
Given the substantial volume of water, options to effectively remove or redirect water are currently limited. Residents are reminded to avoid unnecessary travel, respect all barricades and road closures, and prioritize personal safety.
To help protect the community's sewer system during this event, residents are asked to ensure that sump pumps are not discharging into the sanitary sewer system or sewer holding tanks. Excess groundwater entering the sewer system can overwhelm infrastructure and increase the risk of sewer backups.
Residents should also:
*Monitor sump pump operation and ensure discharge hoses remain clear.
*Keep catch basins and drainage paths near their property free of debris where safe to do so.
*Report any sewer backups , damaged infrastructure, or significant flooding concerns to the Municipal Office.
The Municipal Office remains open, and residents are encouraged to contact staff with flooding concerns or to report issues requiring attention.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding during this challenging situation. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
